A Special Showing of Star Trek: Prodigy is Protowarping to San Diego Comic Con

The USS Protostar  is flying into San Diego...

With season two of Star Trek: Prodigy out on Netflix and receiving rave reviews, CBS Studios is bringing an episode for a special screening to San Diego Comic-Con. After the presentation of the 22-minute episode, there will be a conversation with Admiral Janeway herself, Kate Mulgrew, Brett Gray (Dal R’El), and executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman. The panel will be moderated by Inverse editor Ryan Britt and will include a special giveaway.

A screening of Star Trek: Prodigy season two at San Diego Comic Con is a monumental event, seeing as it was very lucky fans were able to see season two at all. Paramount made the decision to cancel the show in June 2023 in the midst of production on Season Two, removing season one from Paramount+ entirely. After a passionate fan campaign to Save Prodigy, the series was picked up by Netflix, and the entirety of season two was dropped on July 1st.

The sophomore season saw the crew of the destroyed USS Protostar as Starfleet Academy hopefuls and Warrant Officers aboard the Voyager-A. After a bungled attempt to save Captain Chakotay, time started to unravel, threatening the entire multiverse. The crew received help from unexpected (but very familiar to Trek fans) people. Here at Strange New Pod, we have released our review of episodes 1-10 and a deep dive into the two-episode premiere. Our review of the back half will be released tonight, with deep dives into the rest of the season coming in subsequent weeks.

The screening, followed by the discussion, will be happening at San Diego Comic Con Sunday, July 28, from 10 am to 11 am PT in Room 6DE.
