Deck the Corridors With Hijinks and Singing
Strange New Worlds season two is beaming into homes just in time for the holiday season. Along with the standard Blu-ray and DVD release, the second season of Strange New Worlds will also be released as a limited edition steelbook both on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Here is the official synopsis for the season and upcoming release.
In Season Two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, commanded by Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), confronts increasingly dangerous stakes, explores uncharted territories, and embarks on personal journeys that continue to test their resolve and redefine their destinies. Facing friends and enemies both new and familiar, their adventures unfold in surprising ways never seen on any "Star Trek" series. The 4-disc DVD, 4-disc Blu-ray, and 3-disc 4K UHD collections feature every thrilling episode, including a special crossover event with Star Trek: Lower Decks, the first ever "Star Trek" musical episode, and over 2 hours of special features!
So what do those "over two hours" of special features include? The usual array of deleted and extended scenes, plus a good amount of featurettes such as the following:
- Producing Props
- The Costumes Closet
- The Gorn
- Singing in Space
- Exploring New Worlds
One of the more intriguing special features on the release is an alternate version of the hilarious Klingon K-pop style rap from "Subspace Rhapsody."
For those picking up the limited edition steelbook release, it will come with the much sought-after posters for "Subspace Rhapsody," Trek's first musical episode. That poster was so sought after at San Diego Comic-Con that a fire marshall had to shut down the line for it at the Paramount Booth, so this will surely be a hot commodity once released.
And for anyone picking up the 4K steelbook edition, that release will come with a set of four exclusive character magnets that you can interchange on the steelbook. Don't want to stare at Pike's perfect hair? Replace him with Number One. Not a fan of Gilbert and Sullivan? Fine, you can replace her with Uhura. You get the picture.
All editions of Strange New Worlds season two will be released on December 5th, so whether you're putting it under the tree, saving it for one of the eight nights of Hanukkah, or replicating a copy for yourself, there's plenty of the Enterprise and her crew to go around.
